Re: Review In Progress: Mario Kart World (Switch 2) - The Perfect Introduction To A New Console Generation?

MatoFilipovic

Had a chance to play it for a day.
It was... Well, it is not your classic Mario Kart.
There is no option to play Grand Prix like a standard Mario Kart game, there will always be just one lap on othet stages except the first one, which is weird.
You don't get a chance to familiarize yourself with the stage.
The open world, what excited me most, turns out it came at a price of every stage losing it's charm and becoming just a small part of a larger world.
Free roam is lackluster, unlockables are meaningless. They had every chance to make free roam a single player adventure with wide variety of challenges like bosses and battles. Instead you are getting to race through rings on most of challenges . Yay?
I was not impressed.
However, there is a silver lining here, the knockout mode. This mode fits the vest with the new stages layout and it will surely become a go to mode for me when playing online.

Re: Talking Point: Are You Excited At All For Switch 2 GameChat?

MatoFilipovic

If I want to chat online I will use a phone and discord, and I never want to chat online while playing a game.
It baffles me how much emphasis Nintendo is putting on the feature, like they have introduced the next big thing.
However, I can't really complain, can I? I mean, it is not like they removed something just so they can add this.

Re: Switch 2 'Welcome Tour' Estimated File Size Revealed By Nintendo

PS5 set the bar high with the Astro's Playroom. Free, full fledged game.
Imagine a 3 hour 3D Mario game as a pack in title with every Switch 2. The console would sell like hot cakes. Instead, on top of the console price we have to pay 10 dollars for a handful of minigames.
Even the visual presentation looks dull.
They dropped the ball on this one, hard.

Re: Uh Oh, It Looks Like Select Switch 2 Games Won't Support Cloud Saves

MatoFilipovic

Some games are 70 dollars, some are 90. Some support cloud save, some do not. Some Switch games will work on Switch 2, some will not. Buying games is becoming more and more of a hassle, where you have to do research before buying anything. Do they think grandma will do her research when she buys little Timmy new Super Mario for Christmas? Of course not. With so many exceptions to the rule, it is a big turn off.

Re: Talking Point: Where Should 'Luigi's Mansion 4' Take Place?

MatoFilipovic

I would ditch the horror element. No more ghosts. He can chase whatever with that vacuum.
Set the game in a mushroom kingdom adjacent setting, make it as colorful as a standard Mario platformer, and go from there.
We already had three horror themed Luigi games, maybe it is time to explore beyond the horror genre.

Re: Banjo-Kazooie Composer Has "Zero Hope" For A New Entry

MatoFilipovic

I am 100% okay with Microsoft doing nothing with Banjo franchise.
What I'm not okay with is letting it collect dust and not selling it away.
There has been some resurgence of 3D platformers and collectatons.
Then again, the Banjo fans are now grown ups, with no time to play as much as before. There are no younger fans because there was no new game in the franchise since 2008.
The new entry would have to be a masterpiece, game of the year contender, to have a chance of making good sales.

Re: Zelda Fan Film Kicks Off Fundraising Campaign With First Live-Action Trailer

MatoFilipovic

God forbid people invest time and money on the original ideas. Instead, let's make a movie based around an IP we don't own and try later how a big bad corporation shuts us down.
Don't get me wrong, I am all for fan made stuff, but once money is involved, that's where it gets tricky.
And yes, I know if they made something original it wouldn't get as much publicity. It is not fair, but that's how it is. Nothing is popular until it become popular.
On top of all that, Nintendo is making their own Zelda movie.
I will be surprised if they let this one slide.
